Attorney | Developer | Entrepreneur
I'm an experienced entrepreneur, attorney, and team-oriented programmer. I help start-ups, small businesses, and people realize their potential by leveraging my legal and technological experience. I have broad experience in employment law, intellectual property, corporate law, and real estate transactions. I started my career in human resource management managing all HR functions for over 200 employees during my tenure. Our team was able to decrease turnover, increase sales, and create a high-performing environment for our workers.
After getting more experience with employment and labor laws on the business side, I decided to pursue a law degree to enhance my knowledge and focus on working with start-ups and smaller businesses that needed help growing. I went to work in a few different capacities including estate planning and personal injury litigation prior to putting my efforts into opening my own firm. In 2014, I was able to fully transition into operating my own firm focusing on providing services for entreprenuers, start-ups, and small businesses ranging from entity formation, equity/debt financing, human resource consulting, and civil litigation.
While practicing law, I noticed a void in quality technology for small law firms. I made it a point to seek out the innovators in the legal tech field to try and determine if I could find a suitable tech solution for my law firm without incurring massive development costs. I found a few companies that did certain things really well, but I was still having trouble utilizing technical solutions to automate the processes in my law firm. So I decided I was going to become a software developer. I enrolled in Flatiron School's software engineering bootcamp and began learning Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Javascript, and React so I could fully understand what it would take to innovate in the legal tech space.
Since completing Flatiron School's software engineering bootcamp, I have prototyped several solutions for my own law practice in order to refine and eventually release products that allow greater access to lawyers and the courts. Along with these personal projects, I'm looking to make an impact on software teams that are looking to add value to small or solo law firms, entrepreneurs, and individuals. Please feel free to get in touch with me if you think I could add value to your team or project.
